It's called a skeg. Your local car store can put that back on adept equally new. I've also heard of people using the stainless steel skeg guards to replace broken skegs, but I accept non seen it done. |

I did the same thing last month but took only a pocket-size slice out where in that location already was a crack I believe it is called the skegg and they make a cover for it but information technology goes forth the edge of it .I would think they could weld it same as they do with prop repair |

Slip information technology on and you take glue and screws.........done......I would not do the welding ......commencement they will have to accept your lower drive off $$$$ to do whatsoever welding and with time lost and more coin you volition be improve off with a shiney new SS skeg. Roger Got check. Amazon.com. under keelguards......Bass pro , overtons and west marine has them $100.00 |

Welding these housing after years of water exposure is rather hard and doesn't e'er provide a long term effect. I would get with the SS skegg guard as others have mentioned. __________________ Mike |

I similar the stainless steel choice also. But just to keep your options open, it'south not a big deal to repair the skeg. Local machine store hither will do for "about a hundred dollars". It's a low temp weld and outdrive stays on boat. |

The primary purpose of the skeg is to protect the prop and propshaft during a hard grounding. Aluminum fusion will e'er be a weak bespeak. |
